About

For much of the public, recreational sports are their main contact with the local parks and recreation agency or other organizations that operate these programs. It is critical that you effectively manage your recreational sports leagues and tournaments not only for maximum enjoyment by the participants but to create a positive image of your agency or organization locally, regionally, or even nationally. League and tournament management is a complex task with many parts including planning, operating, budgeting, communications, facility and grounds management, and emergency management. This course will cover the basics of these elements of managing recreational sports leagues and tournaments.

This course is also part of the Fundamentals of Recreational Sports Management Certificate program. If you are taking the course outside of the certificate program, you will be assessed only via the multiple-choice quiz. If you are enrolled in the certificate program, you will be required to complete and upload a written assignment to be graded by the course instructor. All assignments must be passed in order to earn the certificate.
