This webcast explores challenges in the development of a green urban network in Stavanger, Norway, considering these issues in local and national contexts and traditions. Presenter Torgeir Sorenson explains how Stavanger, the most densely populated city in Norway but one of the smallest by area, became the city in Norway with the highest number of waymarked green trails.
The presenter offers several explanations for Stavanger’s success, while addressing political, planographic and communal issues. Outcomes for public health are briefly considered, and success factors are identified.
