World Parks Academy Webinar: Managing Biodiversity in a Changing Climate
Urban development thinker and opinion shaper Aaron Renn will present the trends in global urbanization, the rise of megacities, and the challenge and opportunity this poses with regards to parks. Getting land allocated for parks is one of the most critical challenges to get right as cities grow. In the developed world, urbanization is largely complete. In the United States, the challenge is to acquire property in line with population growth, particularly in suburban communities. And to maintain existing parks at a high level. I will argue that private money and public-private partnerships will be necessary for this to happen.
Attendees will take away some of the big ideas guiding cities across the globe from one of the United States’ most thought-provoking free-market thinkers. This webinar is intentionally aimed to bring a free-market perspective to the work of city-shaping that will be provocative, thus sparking dialogue on the big fundamentals of your work in communities where businesses set policies and decisions as much as the public sector. It will give you tools and vocabulary to engage and understand larger business and economic interests that drive much decision-making for elected officials.
